Description

This particular manip is suppose to be my mom's horse Whiskey. He was a soild bay appaloosa with a snip and a star, and three white socks. His front left was solid. He sadly passed away in '02 due to colic.

The story really goes as follows. We were in the process of moving to Georgia from Miami, Florida. We put our trust in a family member that was supposed to take care of him until we could trailer him up. We were busy for many months and when the time came to get Whiskey, we called... and were told he had been sold.

My mom was livid. We frantically searched to find out where he possibly could have been taken and found him living with people who raised cattle. He was nothing but bones. These people knew NOTHING about caring for horses. His hooves needed trimming, his mane had been chewed off, his coat lacked shininess... the whole nine yards.

We got him back and did our best to make him feel back at home. We bathed him, had him gain weight, we rode him... spent all of our time with him...then sadly he just couldn't do it anymore. He collapsed in his stall which broke my mother's leg. Lucky for Whiskey mom was able to detach the IV from his neck. My mom couldn't see him suffer anymore and made the decision to put him down.

I'll never forget this horse. He was in a movie called "Scared Stiff" and was my childhood babysitter. He's the one that taught me how to respect a horse, and how to ride. He was my best friend. . .

But... this is how I picture him up in horse heaven. One day I'll see you again buddy.

Wow. I miss my "son" and I can't believe it has been 10 years. My heart still is broken. I have never ever seen a horse be a part of a family's life and make such a huge impact. He did it all. Thank you Crystal. I tear up everytime I see and hear Whiskey's story. 21 years of the best friend I could ever have.
